As we know that journals are personal and secret, so nobody will show them to the public. Nevertheless, I now publish this collection of my journals openly, for it was merely my homework given by my English lecturer, Mrs Bond, when I was a year-one student at Chinese University of Hong Kong. Although being personal, it is no secret at all. They are short owing to the heavy homework, but they are precious for their reality and continuity -- I wrote daily! It records my campus life as well as reflects the political and economic circumstances locally and internationally, such as the hot topic of the Sunday Forum held in the Vitoria Park, the step down of the iron lady, Mrs Thatcher, in Britain, the economic reform of Mr Gorbachev in Russia, the success of Nelson Mandela in South Africa and the worldwide influential Gulf War in which Bush vs. Seddam Hussein etc. I put them on the Web because these events are well worth our review.
